Fried Tomatoes as cooked by Bonnie Riddle

  4 half ripe or green tomatoes, sliced
  1/2 cup flour
  2 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  2 teaspoons salt
  1/4 teaspoons pepper
   3/4 cup evaporated milk
  Oil for frying

Drain tomato slices on paper towel.  Combine flour, sugar, salt and pepper in bowl.  Coat tomatoes with flour mixture.  Add evaporated milk to remaining flour mixture; mix until smooth.  Dip tomato slices into batter, coating well.  Fry in 1/2 inch oil in skillet until golden brown on both sides.  Yield: 8 servings.
